CA-152 connects US highway 101 to Interstate 5 and is one of the main outlets from the Bay Area to Southern California. Most of it has been upgraded from undivided 2-lane roads to divided, limited access roadways. There are still several miles of 2-lane roads, though, including an uncontrolled interesection with CA-156, which routinely causes backups for miles.

Such a ramp would take vehicles eastbound on Highway 152 over Highway 156, avoiding the long delays caused by good Samaritans who stop — there is no stop sign for them — and allow cars to turn left from westbound 152 onto southbound 156.
Rep. Mike Honda, D-Campbell, called the 152-156 situation “a major public safety threat.'’
On Friday nights, when thousands flee the valley for Interstate 5 and Southern California, backups can extend 10 miles or more, taking hours to navigate.
