Back from vacation
Returned from vacation late Monday night. It was great spending time in London and Paris without any agenda other than where to go today and what to eat. I ended up staying offline and mostly away from the newspapers and television during the entire week+ in Paris, so I’ve had a huge information backlog to deal with since Tuesday. Plus 2.5GB of photos to get processed.
Our return trip started out pretty well. We upgraded to first class on the US Air flight from Charles de Gaulle to Philadelphia, which was nice. Unfortunately the United segment from PHL to SFO was totally sold out so no upgrades. As an added bonus, we’re still waiting for one of our checked bags to arrive. Apparently a lot of incoming bags from Paris didn’t make it onto the SFO flight after clearing customs in Philadelphia, there were dozens of people filing missing bag reports in San Francisco. This makes 3 flights in 3 months that I’ve had a checked bag go missing for a few days. It’s not so bad for us, since we’re coming home, but I felt sorry for the French tourists starting off their vacations here without their luggage.
It’s good to get unplugged once in a while, but we’re happy to be back safely.
